After 'Dashavataaram', a Kamal movie (I have written about it, in my blog!), I went to the theatre and watched Aamir in ACTION in 'Gajini'! I have seen his 'Sarfarosh' 'Rangeela' and most of his other GOOD movies! He reminds me of our Kamal Haasan of 'Gunaa' and 'Mahanadhi' in this movie. He has got a very good sense of humour also which shows that he is a true actor. He can express any emotion in his face and his body language is superb. I am a Kamal fan, as you know and Aamir fan too!
In this movie, his character, after an accident in his head, remembers himself only for 15 minutes and forgets everything later. Becomes violent at that time. Aamir's expression when he goes and comes out of this '15 mts.' is unbelievable, which shows, that he is a gifted actor.
I read a lot about the heroine of this film, Asin. Aamir himself praised her a lot in many interviews. She is superb. The whole theatre is laughing when Asin and Aamir are together in this film. They are portrayed so nicely that we are able to understand why Aamir gets wild at the name of the villain Gajini. The director, Murugadoss, has done his job very well (which Aamir mentioned in so many interviews). The cinematography (the renowned Ravi K.Chandran who is praised by everyone nowadays, even I remember his name!) and the stunts are very very good. The sound effects for the stunt action also is too real. We have to see this type of good movies in good theatres like the Sathyam multiplex(Chennai). The sound effect was to the correct decibels. Makes us shudder when we see Aamir hitting people. I liked some songs also which were melodious (A.R.Rahmaan). Jiah Khan is in the film!
I saw repeat crowd which was repeating the dialogues. The original 'Gajini' was in Tamil in which Surya and Asin had starred. Surya had acted in the Tamil version very well, I am told. So I was amazed to see so much repeat crowds (tamil crowd too) who must have seen the tamil 'Gajini' too. I have not seen the tamil movie. I will watch it now, when it comes in the TV! Now, the director, Murugadoss has become famous in the Hindi filmdom too. I read somewhere that Shah Rukh is impressed with this movie and wants to do Murugadoss directed movie 'Ramanaa', (which is a very good movie - the story is too good) but the director for the Hindi version will be from Bollywood!
I don't mind watching it again for Aamir and Asin in action. I will remember to watch Asin's movies, hereafter!
Hats off to Aamir, Asin and Murugadoss!

Nice review written, Sandhyaji.
Yes, Ghajini is an awesome movie and a must watch for Aamir’s outstanding performance.
Rahman's music is fresh, as always.
Thanks, Sai. Nowadays Tamil movies have good stories. 'Ramana' has good story. Must wait and see how it comes out in Hindi.
I feel I should not write the story of the movies, in my reviews. People should go and watch without the knowledge of the story and they will enjoy it better.
I also watched it yesterday, liked Amir and Asin both, Asin is just wonderful, so natural, but the second half of the movie is nothing else but voilence.
hey great to know u and thanks 4 the visit to global-madrasi blog..i am diehard mgr fan..i was sitting on the marina with fmly in may, when AIR correspondent came over and asked me which actor i liked. i imm said mgr and my daughters screamed "Oldie.." it was fun...great blog yrs..stay connected...wishes
Thank you. We like the songs in MGR films and movies of Shivaji! My husband admires MGR for his popularity - even yesterday he was telling that MGR should come back again for some days and see how his party is deteriorating now! MGR Film city was renamed as 'Jayalalitha Film City' which has absconded now! They could have developed it like Ramoji Rao Film city, hmmm! The trees of the area also would have been saved. Another concrete block is coming there now!
ya..wanted to share an expereince..i worked for 2 months in a paper called The Mail. Firs job u can say. 1981. as it was shutting down, the ed told me "no pay," but get trained. They sent me to a party hosted by MGR at taj. after all this years i still cant forget that experience..I wanted to talk to him but was scared..Now i can even talk to the devil and get an interview..experince teaches so much..past is always pleasant, right..
Thanks for sharing. First job is always a first job. I saw him in person when he came to Hosur, long back. 'Paduththukkonde jeyippen' solli jeyichchaare! No one had or will have such a charisma. Even now people vote for 'rettai yilai' blindly, thinking that his party should win - not Jayalalitha's party!
Was 'The Mail', an evening paper?
ya sandhya..The Mail was evng paper..just next to The Hindu..anywy, i finished my PG dip in bharatiya vidya bhavan mylapore in journalism and moved on to mumbai. the joke is: i paid i think around rs5000 fr that course. now i have come a long way after spending 18 yrs in toi mumbai. a girl came for trianing to our office here in shj. she said her media course costs her 40,000 dirhams. (Dh1 is Rs12) that is indian rupee amt. and all this for the same course i did for just rs5000???
18 years in TOI! If you check the amount for the course here, now, you might be surprised. Good to know you, Ramesh!
I liked your kids' comment when you talk about MGR ...'oldie'! My son shakes his head vigorously, if we talk about old tamil movies! Like Vadivelu, he will say, 'appaa aarambichchuttaaaa...'
hey thanks 4 passing by my blog..stay connected..
